Sega Dreamcast Championships Prove That Girls Kick Ass!

The Scenario:

On April 7, Bimbo's 365 Club became the taxi-terrorized streets of New York and San Francisco when Sega® of America staged the Dreamcast(tm) Championships, starring the immensely popular "Crazy Taxi" franchise. Ten finalists - who had competed nationwide on "Crazy Taxi" at various events throughout the past year - were gathered together in San Francisco to compete for a chance to win $5,000, $10,000 or the grand prize of $15,000 and a trip to Jamaica. In addition to the Championships, attendees got the first hands-on sneak peak at "Crazy Taxi 2" for Sega Dreamcast.

----------

The Drama:

Among the competitors were a bunch of agitated outspoken career gamers with their militant views and hardcore friends, as well as some less aggressive folks, including Lindsay Gall, the quiet girl from a suburb outside of Chicago, with her mom and brother (who was also a competitor). After a couple rounds of heated "Crazy Taxi" action, Lindsay show and proved, taking home the grand prize of $15,000 and a trip to Jamaica. It was like an episode of Survivor in which everyone wanted Lindsay to win, but deep down felt that one of the less likeable contestants knew some evil trick that would make them victorious. However, the crowd was elated that fate shined on Lindsay.

---------- Background information on the MAT Dreamcast Championships:

The Dreamcast Championships are the culmination of the MAT CT (Mobile Assult Tour - "Crazy Taxi") gaming competition.

Sega fans have been competing nationwide on "Crazy Taxi" at various MAT events from May - Dec this past year.

The top 10 scores compiled throughout the competition were the finalists who competed in the Dreamcast Championships for cash and prizes.

The Sega Mobile Assault Tour vehicles are custom Sega trucks that "assault" the senses at every level. The MAT vehicles were designed to allow consumers a hands-on experience with the state of the art Sega Dreamcast video game system and great Sega games. It is equipped with 16 gaming stations where consumers can interact with our product at events, concert tours, malls, movie theaters and other venues. Last year, MAT hit more than 500 high-traffic locations in major U.S. cities.

Last year's Dreamcast Championships were held in Las Vegas in which players competed on Sonic Adventure.

---------- The "Crazy Taxi 2" Preview:

An exciting part of the event was that attendees were able to be the first to have a hands-on go at "Crazy Taxi 2," the highly anticipated Dreamcast title slated for early June. "Crazy Taxi 2" follows in the footsteps of its San Francisco-based predecessor, but moves the frenetic fast-paced action to the streets of New York. Put the pedal to the metal with four new cab drivers, and pick up an entirely new cast of irate passengers with a variety of destinations. These include many of New York City's recognizable landmarks, such as the Hard Rock Café, FAO Schwarz and Times Square. Players can even pick up groups of passengers that need to be dropped off at multiple destinations! If you thought "Crazy Taxi" was an adrenaline rush, you ain't seen nothin' yet. In this sequel, players have the ability to "bounce" low-rider style over obstacles, while blaring tunes from the Offspring and Methods of Mayhem.
