Hit Arcade Big-Rig Racer Plows into Living Rooms Nationwide
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - (May 22, 2001) - It's time to get that diesel hummin' and cargo loaded now that this big-rig racing game is making its console debut. Today, Sega* of America announced the release of "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker*" for the 128-bit, Internet ready Sega Dreamcast* video game console. A hit in the arcades, this life-like trucking simulator is making its console premier with exclusive additions, including all new gameplay modes. In "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker," players get behind the wheel of one of four big-rigs, each with its own unique level of speed, torque and toughness. In first or third person, players are challenged to race against rival big rigs and the clock to haul cargo across the nation in a no-holds-barred driving battle. Accomplished players can maximize profits with heavier cargo. Only players who can deliver their cargo undamaged along the asphalt battlegrounds in rigorous stages will receive the hefty pay-off.
"With the release of '18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker' for Dreamcast, Sega continues to be the driving force behind innovative new content," said John Golden, director of marketing, Sega of America. " '18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker' delivers the same excitement of the arcade hit with exclusive gameplay additions to Dreamcast fans across the country."
"18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker" offers four modes of gameplay, including several exclusive new stages for the Dreamcast. Players can test their gear-shiftin' skills by transporting cargo across the country (Arcade mode), racing laps (Score Attack mode) or parking against the clock (Parking mode). Players also have the option of competing against their favorite friend or rival in Versus mode. In this stage, gamers go head-to-head to give each other a run for their money. Adding to the excitement, players can choose from four drivers, each with their own distinct personality, including disco sensation Moonlight, burly brute Mad Bull, delicate but deadly Highway Rose, and good ol' boy Texas Hawk. "18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker" is rated "E" for Everyone and is available for $39.95 at retailers nationwide and at www.sega.com.
